Item Description
For 1963. 16" wide, 33.25" tall w/art titled "Joe McCarthy And A Host Of Memories" has wonderful painting of McCarthy giving pointers to young baseball players as many Yankees look on from sky above. Bottom portion of calendar has calendar pad which lifts up to reveal text about McCarthy who managed the Yankees in the 1930s and 1940s but never actually played in the big leagues himself. Also includes details about players shown including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Lefty Gomez, Charlie Keller, Frank Crosetti, Joe Gordon, Phil Rizzuto. Also has biography of artist Bama, himself. Center portion has imprint for "Lanasa Shrimp Co." in Key West, Florida. Top and bottom edges have strip of metal to help hold calendar in place and back top has attached small die-cut cardboard hole for hanging. Calendar pad is missing first 2 months, and has some wear across top edge. Calendar itself has been rolled as issued. A few archival tape repairs across back of top. Overall Fine appearance. Bright color w/wonderful art.
