Item Description
15-7/8x19.75" superb painting shows Bleriot's plane in air about to land in England as men waving French and English flags rush to greet him with White Cliffs of Dover and castle in bkg. On July 25,1909 Bleriot was the first aviator to fly across the English Channel. Painting is signed at lower right K. Rodko. Konstantin Rodko was born in 1908 and was a Latvian refugee to America in 1950. He painted full time from the 1970s to 1993 and was a popular fixture in Greenwich Village during that time. Canvas has bit of wear along left and right sides with some dust soil at top. Will frame to Fine appearance. Well executed. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
