Item Description
Three items. All picture Kelly in the special US/Japan tour uniform. All have ink stamp on back “From the Estate of George L. ‘High Pockets’ Kelly”. Snapshots are 3.75x4.75" and 3.75x5 5/8". Smaller photo has closeup of him in uniform and larger photo shows him holding bat with arm around shoulder of Japanese player with additional player near batting cage in background. Both photos have text in Japanese on back, larger photo has baseball rubber stamp and imprint on back. Photo card is 3 3/8x5 3/8" showing him in tour uniform holding bat standing behind batting cage. Candid photos have some lt. creasing. VG/Fine. Photo card is Exc. After the 1931 season ended 14 players toured Japan matching up against local teams and winning all their games. The team was co-managed by Herb Hunter and sports writer Fred Leib and the roster included Lou Gehrig, Lefty Grove, Mickey Cochrane, Frank Frisch and Rabbit Maranville. George Kelly played utility.
