Item Description
8x10" glossy photo shows both men in dressing room with Donald shaking hands with Dickey. c. 1938-45, the years they were on the team together. Photo has clear ink signature in middle of pitcher Donald's uniform "Best Wishes To The #1 Catcher And A #1 Guy Atley Donald". Donald was a pitcher for the Yankees from 1938 to 1945. He had a win-loss record of 65-33, an earned run average of 3.52, and 369 strikeouts. Bill Dickey played his entire 19 year career with the NY Yankees between 1928 and 1946. The Yankees went to the World Series nine times during Dickey's playing career and he was elected to the baseball Hall of Fame in 1954. Right side of photo has lt. rippling, and was likely a news service photo though no stamp or paper caption is present. Overall Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
