Item Description
c. 1920s. 14-1/8x21.25" high quality wood frame has archival mat with 9.75x16.75" opening. Photo is by Equity New York City. Both teams are in uniform and crowded onto bleachers along with well-dressed men in suits. Game was between "Stone, Webster & Blodgett Inc" from Boston and "J.S. Bache & Co" New York. Emulsion of photo has yellowed with age and center has a hairline vertical crease but image is glossy, clean and crisp. Left side edge of photo is cut off a bit as matted. Still displays near Exc. as professionally framed and matted. In 1927 Stone and Webster entered the investments business merging with the investment banking firm of Blodgett & Co. founded in 1866 to form Stone, Webster & Blodgett Inc. Bache & Co. was a securities firm that provided stock brokerage and investment banking services. During the 1920s the firm became a leader in financing railroads, automobile and mining enterprises and was majority stockholder of the Chicago, Great Western Railway. The firm was closely identified with the founding and early growth of Chrysler Corporation. Nice image of professional people involved in the Great American pastime. Ready for display.
