The company began in 1899 as the Reading Glove and Mitten Manufacturing Company. After economic problems the name of the company changed to Schuylkill Silk Mills in 1913 and the next year they added silk underwear to the company's line of gloves. The company became Vanity Fair after a naming contest in 1917. In 1919 it became Vanity Fair Silk Mills. In 1929 they began making hosiery. A sharp and superb photo.
