Item Description
First is 8.5x11" sheet of stationery on Bob Clampett letterhead with art image of Beany and Cecil dated January 11, 1983. Typewritten text reads "Dear Ward: Thanks For All The Good Laughs Yesterday, And Also The Very Revealing Info On T.S. Here's The Article On Disneyland For What It's Worth. Best, Bob Clampett" with original art of Beany's propeller hat above name "Bob" signed in red ink. Two horizontal folds as mailed, otherwise Exc. Second letter is handwritten in pencil on two sheets of 8.3/8x13.3/8" yellow lined stationery from Klay Hall dated 3/12/93. Hall asks about obtaining a drawing of Pecos Bill and also asks about getting some books signed. He ends the letter saying “Thanks Again For Your Time In The Past, And For All The Entertainment You Brought My Way. Your Work Will Live Forever. Your Pal-Klay Hall”. Hall has drawn a caricature of himself at left and also drawn an image of Bart and Homer Simpson watching Kimball in his locomotive with Bart saying “Cool Train Ward” and Homer saying “Um-Do They Sell Popcorn Here?”. Letter has three horizontal folds as mailed and comes with matching original envelope addressed to Kimball. Exc. Hall is noted for his work as a director on the Simpsons and Family Dog as well as The King Of The Hill. In 2005 he was hired by Disney Toon Studios to work on Tinker Bell. Next are candid photos taken by Ward Kimball in 1936 and 1937 with handwritten captions on reverse relating to Virginia and Truckee Trains in Carson City, Nevada. Includes pair of small candid photos of the “V&T” Railway caboose with Kimball himself in one photo and his wife Betty in the other. Comes with business card w/ art designed by Kimball for this railway along with two shipping forms with same art. Each is applied to larger sheet of cardboard. Group is Exc. Overall an interesting lot relating to a fellow animators respect for Kimball and Kimball’s early love for railroads. Comes with Certification Letter on Grizzly Flats Railroad letterhead signed by son John Kimball noting the Klay Hall letter and art was purchased from the estate of his late parents Betty and Ward Kimball.
