Item Description
6.75x9-7/8" glossy c.1940 has superb image of Marble wearing overcoat with scarf and holding tennis racket in left hand. 2x4" area just to left of center has fountain pen ink inscription “To Frank Reeser With Best Wishes-Alice Marble”. Top 1/3 of photo has hairline crazing just visible in reflected light, autograph contrast area is a bit light but clearly legible. VF. Alice Marble (1913-1990) won the Singles at Wimbledon in 1939 and the Singles in the US Open from 1936-1940 and also won Doubles at Wimbledon in 1938 and 1939 and Doubles in the US Open in 1937-1940. Wonderful display item for a legendary tennis champion. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA and JSA LOA.
