Item Description
Both photos show him in Almendares Scorpions uniforms when he played in Cuba during the winter. First photo is 4.5x7" great action shot of him swinging bat with Habana photographer "Jose Louis Lopez" ink stamp. Second photo is 7.25x8-3/8" with text caption on back in Spanish relating to how he can be identified by his legs, w/image of just that, his legs. Both glossy photos are date stamped 1937 and 1945, thus published twice. Small photo has a few crop marks as done for publication purposes and both photos have a few lt. handling creases just visible in reflected light. Both VF. Ray Dandridge (1913-1994) was considered by many to be the best third baseman in Negro League history and a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He played in the Negro Leagues between 1933 and 1944 with a total of eight seasons. He played twelve winters in the Cuban league and both photos mention his Spanish nickname "Talua". Interesting pair to frame together. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
