8x10" glossy c. late 1940s showing Vander Meer going into wind-up on pitcher's mound with bold ink "To Richard Merkin - Thanks For Being A Baseball Fan" inscription and signature in center. Reverse side has ink stamp "This Picture May Not Be Rented Nor Used For Advertising Purposes. The Cincinnati Baseball Club Co."  Trace of lt. handling wear just visible in reflected light. Glossy and Fine. Vander Meer is the only pitcher in Major League history to pitch no-hitters in two consecutive starts which he did in 1938. He played in the Majors between 1937 and 1951 with a win-loss record of 119-121, and ERA of 3.44, with 1,294 strikeouts. He was an All-Star selection four times and a World Series champion in 1940 with the Reds. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
