Item Description
3.5x4.5" with nice image of Walker in uniform holding bat on shoulder looking out to right field with dugout and grandstands in bkg. Photo is signed in fountain pen at lower right. A few letters of last name are a bit light due to ink flow, upper right of photo has a few minor creases just visible in reflected light. Overall Fine. Walker's baseball career spanned the years 1928-1950. He played in the Minor Leagues between 1928 and 1932 and had 18 years in the Majors. He played with the New York Yankees in 1931 and 1933-1936; with the Chicago White Sox in 1936-1937; Detroit Tigers 1938-1939; Brooklyn Dodgers 1939-1947, and the Pittsburgh Pirates 1948-1949. He had a career batting average of .306 including 105 home runs and 1,023 RBIs, playing in five All-Star games in the 1940s and won the NL Batting Title in 1944. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
