Item Description
From same set as #1139. Card front reads "Base Ball J. Pedro Dibut C-52." Slight margin trim but a strong, bold image. Pedro Dibut Villafana was the first player to go from the organized Negro Leagues to the Majors. In 1923 he played for the Cuban Stars (West) followed by a stint with the Cincinnati Reds in 1924-25. As a pitcher for the Reds he had a record of 3-0. He was inducted into the Cuban Baseball HOF in 1963. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
