Item Description
Original vintage photo c. early 1920s. 5x7" glossy showing 13 team members in full uniforms on ball field. Seated second from the left is Hall Of Famer Oscar Charleston. Signage is visible in the background including one for "Studebaker Big Six." Lower right has mark of noted photographer "J.E. Miller KC." Reverse has some ink text regarding the photo but this was done many years later. Slightest trace of this shows through at just the top left corner. The image remains bold and sharp with great clarity. Trace of margin/corner tip wear. Glossy and VF. A superb team photo featuring one of the greatest legends of the Negro Leagues. A multi-talented star, Oscar Charleston was renowned by those who saw him play as the finest all-around player in Negro League history and was dubbed as the "Black Ty Cobb" by sports writers. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
