Auction #213 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1062 in auction 213
Item Description
5.5" tall with silvered brass top having highly detailed image of Independence Hall with word "Philadelphia" and a wreath below. Bar on reverse holds rwb fabric ribbon with pair of loops joined to a 2.25" celluloid designed as a baseball. Beneath the hanger about .25" downward is a .25" deep panel of the fabric where the threads are separated but the blue fabric remains intact. Additional separation of threads just above the bottom loop but no full splits. Celluloid has light oxidation over the reverse. A gray mark on the front right side was largely surface dirt now removed. Tiny bit of tone around the upper loop. The cream background color actually is slightly textured to resemble the leather surface of an actual baseball. We've never seen this before on a button. Text reads in full "Board Of Aldermen/City Of New York/June 19th/Vs. 1907/City Councils Of Philadelphia." A one day local rarity from the Paul Muchinsky Collection.
