Item Description
7x10.25" original glossy photo showing team in uniform on ball field. Reverse has "Pacific & Atlantic Photo, Inc" ink stamp and text sheet. Text includes "Photo Shows Full Yankees Squad At New Orleans, LA" and includes mention of their "Vigorous Spring Training" stating "They're Prepared For The Opening Of The Season's Battles." Ruth stands in the back row 4th from the right. Other HOF members shown are Herb Pennock and Waite Hoyt. The Yankees began their first World Championship Season on April 18, 1923 as they opened Yankee Stadium aka "The House That Ruth Built." This was the first of their 27 World Series titles, the most championships of any professional sports team. Text paper on back is complete but aged and has archival tape strip on reverse at fold. Photo has moderate handling wear w/some crease, most of this is to the left margin and much is only visible in reflected light. Left center also has pair of 1" tears w/archival tape repair on reverse. Photo remains totally bright and glossy w/bold and strong image. VG. An incredibly important and historic Yankees team photo on multiple levels. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
