Item Description
Trio of items signed by Disney animators. First is 10.25x11" first edition softcover "Disney Animation - The Illusion Of Life" book published by Abbeville Press, ©1984 Walt Disney Production. Title page has been signed by three of Disney's Nine Old Men - Marc Davis, Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas as well as Maurice Noble. Front cover has 3" area of corner creasing. Book itself is Fine/VF, but signatures remain distinct and Exc. Lot also includes promo photo of Thomas and Johnston, and mentions previous book in lot. Both have signed by their images. Last item is 8.5x11" typed letter dated April 1, 1987 and is addressed to Charlie and Joan Roberts. Five numbered statements by Ward Kimball, first two reference artist Nate Collier. Third reads in full "I Refuse To Draw Characters Used In Disney Films Which I Had Absolutely Nothing To Do With. The Man To Contact For A Drawing Of Those Wonderful Mushrooms From Fantasia Is None Other Than Art Babbit. He Did The Animation." Fourth statement reads "On The Other Hand I Was Responsible For The Mad Tea Party In Alice In You Know What Land." Text also notes art that originally accompanied this letter although there is an inked asterisk by him w/"This Is Not Art" ink stamp at bottom. Kimball has boldly signed in black felt tip pen. Exc.
