Item Description
8x10" high quality matte finish silver gelatin photo showing 16 member team posed on ball field. A few spectators are in the stands behind them. Written in ink (at the time of issue) on the bottom margin is "Dexter Park June 3rd 1934 Brooklyn, NY." Among the players shown are: Clint Thomas, Dave "Showboat" Thomas, Walter "Rev" Cannady, Bill Yancey, John Beckwith, George Scales, Fats Jenkins, Robert Clarke, John "Neck" Stanley, Ted Trent, Bill Holland. After playing its first four seasons as an independent the Black Yankees entered the Negro National League in 1936 and remained there until the league folded after the 1948 season. Lt. corner tip wear and trace of margin aging. Image remains sharp and a great team photo. Fine/VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
