Item Description
3.25x5.5" generic postcard postmarked June 1, 1953 with a young Richard Merkin's address in ink on the obverse and a note on the reverse asking for the signature of Dave Philley, but was instead signed by "Bo Bo" Newsom.  Louis "Bo Bo" Newsom was a starting pitcher in MLB and played for nine of the existing 16 teams from 1929-1953 over all or parts of 20 seasons. He appeared in 600 games and pitched in over 3,700 innings with a career mark of 211-222, 3.98 ERA, and 2082 career strikeouts. He was a World Series champion once in 1947 with the New York Yankees.
