Item Description
3.25x5.5" vintage government postcard signed by Negro League and New York Giants star outfielder, Henry "Hank" Thompson. Hank began his professional baseball career w/the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro League in 1943 and stayed w/Kansas City until 1947 when he was signed by the St. Louis Browns. After one season in St. Louis, Thompson would play the final eight seasons of his MLB career w/the New York Giants. Thompson finished w/a career batting average of .267 along w/129 home runs and 482 RBIs. Postcard has a cancellation date of Sept. 9, 1957 from Brooklyn, NY. Signature remains clear and legible, signed boldly in period ink. Postcard is evenly aged and has some lt. corner tip wear. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake'S COA and JSA COA.
