Item Description
3.25x5.5" vintage government postcard signed by Cleveland Indians star catcher Jim Hegan. Hegan began his MLB career w/the Indians in 1941, playing there for two seasons until World War II interrupted his career for the next three years. In 1946, Hegan went back to Cleveland, where he would play until 1957. Following that season, Hegan would bounce from Detroit to Philadelphia to San Francisco and finally to Chicago before finally retiring after the 1960 season. Hegan finished his career w/a batting average of .228 along w/92 home runs and 525 RBIs. Postcard has two photos of Hegan attached w/aged tape and postcard has crease at lower right corner. Cancellation date of June 12, 1952 from Washington D.C. Signature remains clear and legible, signed boldly in period ink. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
