Item Description
3.25x5.5" vintage government postcard signed by Philadelphia Phillies relief ace Jim Konstanty and his Phillies' teammate Stan Lopata. Konstanty began his MLB career w/the Cincinnati Reds in 1944. After a season playing w/Boston in 1946, Konstanty joined the Phillies in 1948 and would remain there through the 1954 season. After that, Konstanty pitched briefly for the Yankees and Cardinals before calling it a career in 1956, finishing w/a record of 66-48 and a 3.46 ERA w/268 strikeouts and 74 saves. Lopata began his MLB career w/Philadelphia in 1948 and would spend the next 10 seasons there, through 1958 before finishing up his career w/Milwaukee in 1960. Lopata wound up w/career numbers of .254 w/116 homers and 397 RBIs. Postcard has cancellation date of May 11, 1952 from Brooklyn, NY. Both signatures remains clear and legible, signed boldly in period ink. Postcard is evenly aged and VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
