Item Description
1.25". Reverse has stamped union bug and curl reads "Philadelphia Chewing Gum Corp. Havertown, Pa." This and previous two lots are the only three examples we have seen or offered in our 54 years. A very rare gum issued series.  Pee Wee Reese was one of the Brooklyn Dodgers most popular ballplayers throughout the 1940s and 1950s. Best known for his slick fielding shortstop play, Pee Wee was also a sparkplug offensively, both a quality hitter as well as smart base runner. Reese finished his career with a .269 batting average along with 1,338 runs scored and 232 stolen bases and gained election into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984. Glossy, Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
