Item Description
8.5x11" sheet of personal stationery for Dick Calkins with same green illustrations from previous item #2324 but with Buck Rogers image in upper right-hand corner instead of bottom middle margin. Typed letter is dated Nov. 19, 1947 and is addressed to Mr. Elmer Staggs, 30 Years On Arizona Ranges. Written in a western dialect, text includes "Friend Chief Has Been This And That, When South Breze Say My Wikiup Is Piched In Land Of Brigham Young, Sign Talk Point To Wrong Trail. Went Over Mountain Through Stockton Pass With Squaw Ten Suns Past To Spend Much Wampum On White Man's Tin Can That Shine In Dark By Blowing Air In Bottom And Lighting Deer Tails In Hollow Rock That Is Clear Like Crystal Spring, Him Say One Colman." Letter is signed "Cordially Yurs, Little Chief Never Was This Or That. Dick Calkins." Calkins has signed in black fountain pen ink. Hand-written penciled note in bottom left-hand corner reads "Am In Market For Small Cave." Calkins has also added a hand-drawn image of Indian in blanket with word balloon reading "Now Me All Balled Up!" as well as changing his stationery address to "Bonita Ariz." and adding his initials. Folded twice as mailed with staple holes in upper left-hand corner. Lightly aged and VF.
