Item Description
Lot of two. Both are approximately 10x12”. Both Golliwog items are 3.5x5.5” and matted in professional framing. First is a 1950s blotter for “James Robertson & Sons (Preserves Mnfrs.) Ltd./Golden Shred Works-Paisley.” An English firm, this blotter was “Printed In Scotland.” Repeat images with character holding jar of “Golden Shred” (an orange marmalade) and text on shirt reads “Robertson’s Golden Shred.” Golden Shred was their first and most famous product to this day. Blotter Exc. Second is folk art of Golliwog in watercolor. c. 1930s. Illustration is designed from the image seen on the above mentioned blotter. Text on jar/shirt reads “Mince Meat.” Text “A Happy Christmas” appears in gold luster. Folk art Exc. Both are professionally matted and framed. Ready for display. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
