Item Description
3.25x5.5" government postcard has bold "Mel Ott" ballpoint pen signature. Postmarked May 13, 1948. Trace of lt. aging with a few small ink marks and tiny bit of show through from postmark and cancellation impression on reverse. Overall Fine with nice signature. Mel Ott (1909-1958) batted left handed and threw right handed. He played his entire career with the New York Giants between 1926 and 1947 and was the first National League player to surpass 500 home runs. He had a lifetime batting average of .304 with 511 home runs, 2,876 hits and 1,860 runs batted in. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 1951. Would look great matted and framed with a photo or baseball card. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
