Item Description
3.5x4.5" glossy photo showing Perkins in Jersey City uniform holding glove in dugout has bold 2-7/8" wide "Charlie Perkins" fountain pen signature just below center. Photo has a few very minor handling creases just visible in reflected light. Overall VF. Charlie Perkins (1905-1988) pitched for the 1930 Philadelphia Athletics and the 1934 Brooklyn Dodgers with a major league career record of no wins and three losses with an earned run average of 7.50 and 20 strikeouts. He only played in 19 major league games. Manager Casey Stengel of the Dodgers sent him down to finish the 1934 season in Buffalo and in 1935 Perkins returned to semi-pro ball where he had played before coming to the majors. He came back for a final seven games in the minors in 1937. An obscure baseball autograph of a pitcher who was friend of and played golf with Babe Ruth and Walter Hagen. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
