Item Description
12x20" high quality oversized photo by “Baker Art Gallery” shows 19 member team with all in uniform and bat boy in foreground. Photo is nicely signed in fountain pen ink by all players. Key players include: Huck Betts, Ray Morehart, Bubbles Hargrave, Hal Anderson, Al Shealy, Kiddo Davis, Slim Harris, Billy Rogell, and Ben Chapman along with ten other players. Photo has some lt. creasing, mostly noticeable at upper right side edge. Fine/VF overall. Bubbles Hargrave joined St. Paul in 1918 and was purchased by the Cincinnati Reds in 1921. His best year was 1926 when he led the National League in batting. He was appointed playing manager of St. Paul in 1929 when this photo was taken and led the Saints to an excellent 102-54 season, finishing second behind Kansas City. He was also the league’s second leading batter and went to the New York Yankees in 1930. Betts played for the Phillies and Braves, Morehart played for the White Sox and Yankees, Rogell and Chapman both played for several major league teams. A great looking signed team photo. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA and JSA LOA.
