Item Description
8x10" glossy with United Press International ink stamp on reverse has wonderful image of "The Heater From Van Meter" being hugged by teammate in locker room shortly after pitching a no-hitter against the Chicago White Sox on April 16, 1940, an opening day record which still stands. Photo has been signed in ink on Feller's left shoulder area. A few minor handling creases just visible in reflected light. VF. Hall of Famer Feller played his entire professional career with the Cleveland Indians between 1936 and 1956 and is recognized as one of the best right-handed pitchers in baseball history. He was the first pitcher to win at least 20 games in a season before the age of 21, he threw three no-hitters and twelve one-hitters, led the AL in strike-outs in seven seasons and pitched 279 complete games. His win-loss record was 266-162 with an ERA of 3.25 including 2,581 strikeouts. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
