Item Description
3.25x5-3/8" government postcard postmarked Cleveland, OH July 17, 1948 has nice fountain pen signature on reverse. Card has lt. handling wear and dust soil. Tiny tear at top edge at right side. Fine. Knuckleball pitcher Bearden played in the Majors between 1947 and 1953 with teams including the Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Browns, and Chicago White Sox. His rookie year was climaxed by closing out the Cleveland Indians' last World Series Championship in 1948. He was the AL ERA champion in 1948 and had a pitching record of 45-38 with an ERA average of 3.96 including 259 strikeouts. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
